Valley of the Kikbeekbron

The Valley of the Kikbeekbron (‘Kikbeek source’) is a nature reserve of 120 ha in and around a former sand and gravel pit at Maasmechelen, where seepage provides a pond with water. That pond then feeds the Kikbeekbron, which flows into the river Meuse. The valley is part of the hiking area Hoge Kempen National Park – Mechelse Heide.

Green loop: 2.6 km

Blue loop: 4.6 km

You can buy hiking maps at Visit Maasmechelen and Camping Kikmolen (€ 2.5).

Do you prefer a longer walk? Use the ‘wandelwissels’ to combine the Valley of the Kikbeekbron hiking route and the Mechelse Heide hiking route.

Sign with hiking routes at the car park.

First, follow the signs with X, then, the green or blue hiking loop.

Car park – road to Zutendaal

Road to Zutendaal next to house number 199 3630 Maasmechelen

No sign with hiking routes at the car park.

Cross the street and follow the long-distance route (signs with the little paw) to the green or blue hiking loop.
